The Pools Open

Yesterday the local pool opened for the season. We live less than a block from the pool and of course my kids love to frolic in the water. Now, the boys didn't go swimming yesterday as James had a baseball game in the afternoon and coach has ordered no swimming on game days. So, today it was a definite thing to go to the pool. Now, we got on the swimming trunks and sunscreen and our two dollars to get in and off the boys went, I was to be a long in a little bit. I knew it wasn't going to get real warm today but, man, it was chilly out!!!! The boys were freezing by the time I got to the pool Newt was in the boys bathroom warming under the showers and James was swimming being the tough guy he is. I sat for a while talking to other moms about the chill in the air getting worse by the minute. On the second break Newt asked me if he could take a warm shower when we got home. I questioned James as to if he would like to go home also. James informed me, through chattering teeth, he would not get to swim again until Wednesday and would be staying until the pool closed for the day. I said "Wednesday?" and he says "yea, the pool is closed on Monday and we have a game on Tuesday!!!" Well, at least he abides by the rules. The pool closed early today, the skies were getting dark and it is the lifeguards decision as to close or not. I am glad they closed, it was to chilly today. I am sure hoping Wednesday is warmer.
